6 ways to keep your jewelry NEW

Just like your clothes, your jewelry needs cleaning too - no matter how careful you are while handling your jewelry, it needs to be cleaned once in awhile. We bring you a list of ways you can clean your favorite jewelry.

  1. Washing Jewelry with Liquid dish detergent
This is probably the most basic way to keep your jewelry clean. If it is gold jewelry you need to clean, then use liquid dish detergent. Pour some of it in a bowl along with some lukewarm water. Let it soak for about 20 mins. When you take it out of the solution, rinse it under warm water and voila, your gold is as good as new!

  1. Cleaning using Ammonia
Cleaning jewelry with ammonia is a complete no for gold jewelry. Add a little bit of ammonia to a bowl of water and dip in your jewelry for only a few seconds. Take it out using a pair of tongs or stainer. Repeat the same procedure of rinsing it under water and make sure the jewelry is dry before wearing it again.

  1. Brushing jewelry with toothpaste
Mix your toothpaste in a bowl of hot water. Remember that the toothpaste proportion should be less than the water. Brush your jewelry by dripping your brush into the solution. This is one of the easiest way - just make sure you don’t brush too harshly.

  1. Aluminum foil helps
Take a pot and line the inside of it with aluminium foil . Fill the pot with hot water and some soda or salt. Add your jewelry in it and let it soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse it later and let it dry.

  1. Club soda
Do you want to clean your gemstones? Use club soda. Let your gemstone jewelry sit in a glass of club soda overnight. This soak will help restore their shine.

  1. Using Vinegar
Vinegar is easily available. Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 2 tbsp. of baking soda into a container. Stir the solution well. Put your jewelry in it for an hour or two. Rinse it later with water to see the results.

We at Mahi Fashion Jewelry believe that following these ways to clean your jewelry will make it look as good as new. After all, isn’t jewelry meant to glitter?
